Pride and Prejudice By Jane Austen ISBN - 10:0679783261 ISBN - 13:9780679783268 When I first read this novel I found it difficult to understand as it was written in the older more proper English of that time. I honestly didn't think much of it until I saw the new movie of Pride and Prejudice, and as I compared the movie to the book things began to make more sense. I read the book a second time and found that I enjoyed it even more because I could understand the way society was back in the period this novel took place. This novel is definitely a classic and is a must read! The characters developed in this novel are done exceptionally well, you have Elizabeth Bennett the out spoken and strong headed woman and her sister Jane Bennett who is a kind hearted soul you can't help but love. Then there are others such as Mr. Collins that make you cringe when ever he starts on one of his long winded compliments or Mr. Bingley whose free spirited personality you can't help but want to tie down. Then there is Mr. Darcy himself who was seen as someone who was all but full of pride...This novel opens your eyes to the pride and prejudice of others but also takes you on a journey of self discovery and love. |
